3 Resolutions of a Good Christian

To be a good Christian, we often think about the usual things.

Love your neighbor as yourself.  (Romans 13:9)

Keep yourself pure. (2 Timothy 2:21)

Worship the Lord your God and serve only him. (Luke 4:8)

Those are excellent attributes of a Christian lifestyle, but there are 2 Resolutions of a Good Christian we can’t afford to overlook.

Matthew 28:18-20 in the NIV says:

“Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.’”

Here are the 3 Resolutions all good Christians must make to satisfy the call of Jesus:

Resolution No. 1: Go and make disciples of all nations.

Feed them. Improve their lives. Build them homes if necessary. Then teach them about Jesus. Your actions are as important as your words.

Resolution No. 2: Baptize them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

Here’s the salvation part. Recognizing Christ’s sovereignty over our lives, choosing to walk after him, and changing our actions to imitate the example Jesus presented in the Word.

Resolution No. 3: Teach them to obey everything Jesus has commanded us.

These are the Christian attributes we opened with. We must choose to live as Christ instructed. To do otherwise is not to live for him at all. The world learns it from watching how we live.

Now you know. We call this The Great Commission. We’re spreading the Love of Jesus when we resolve to complete the Work he started.
