Gaining a reputation as a reputable brand is vital in the retail world.
If people respect our product, we’ll be able to sell anything.
Oprah Winfrey is a person of note. She’s built a media empire, and when she puts her stamp of approval on things, they fly out the window. In 2014, Random House printed Cynthia Bond’s debut novel Ruby. The original printing was 15,000 copies.
Once Bond’s book was mentioned on Winfrey’s show, the paperback run of 250,000 overshadowed the novel’s original prospects.
It took more than just a good story for Bond’s book to be successful. It took the reputation of a reputable brand for people to become interested.
How’s our brand as Christians built?
How do we get that Oprah cachet, that ability to tout Christ and sell out the house?
James 2:24 says we need to put our words into action.
“You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone.”
We can go to the altar, and we can shake the pastor’s hand. There’s more, though, if we want others to believe in our new faith in God.
We must live it out. Depend on our Lord. Offer to help the widows. Give to the needy. Mow the church lawn. Show up to feed the homeless.
When the world sees the hand of Christ in the actions we perform, they’ll respect our Christian witness, and they’ll listen when we tell them of Jesus.
People trust what we say when we live out Christ day-to-day.
